CANDLE CARE

At Pepper Cottage Co., we want you to enjoy the full experience of our handcrafted candles. Follow these care and troubleshooting tips to ensure optimal burning and longevity of your candles:

CONTAINER CANDLES

  1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch to prevent smoking and uneven burning. This helps maintain a clean and steady flame.

  2. Keep the Wax Pool Clean: Allow the wax pool to reach the edges of the container on the first burn to prevent tunneling. Subsequent burns should also have an even wax pool to ensure consistent fragrance release.

  3. Burn Time: For each burn, allow the candle to burn for 2-4 hours or until the wax pool reaches the container's edge to prevent tunneling and maximize fragrance throw.

  4. Burn on Nonflammable Surfaces: Always burn candles on heat-resistant, nonflammable surfaces to prevent accidents and ensure safety.

  5. Avoid Drafts: Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, fans, or open windows to prevent uneven burning and sooting.

  6. Safety First: Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Always burn candles within sight and away from flammable objects. If you notice a flame excessively flickering, or reaching a height of 3 or more inches, extinguish immediately and trim the wick before burning again.

  7. Extinguish Properly: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish your candle. Avoid using the lid or blowing directly onto the flame, as this can cause wax splatter and decrease the longevity of your candle.

  8. Refrain from Moving: Avoid moving a burning candle as this can disturb the wax pool and lead to uneven burning. Allow the candle to cool completely before relocating it.

  9. Storage: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent melting or discoloration.

WAX MELTS

  1. Use Only in Approved Wax Warmers: Use wax melts only in wax warmers specifically designed for melting wax. Do not use with oil warmers or water-based warmers.

  2. Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Wax melts can pose a choking hazard and may be harmful if ingested. Keep wax melts and warmers out of reach of children and pets.

  3. Avoid Contact with Skin and Eyes: Avoid touching wax melts with bare hands as they may cause skin irritation. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

  4. Use in Well-Ventilated Areas: Use wax melts in well-ventilated areas to prevent inhalation of vapors. Do not use in confined spaces without proper ventilation.

  5. Do Not Ingest: Wax melts are not intended for consumption. If ingested, seek medical attention immediately.

  6. Do Not Add Water: Do not add water or any other substances to wax melts. Use only as directed.

  7. Do Not Overfill Wax Warmers: Place one wax melt in the well of the wax warmer at a time. Overfilling the warmer may cause spills and wax buildup.

  8. Do Not Leave Unattended: Never leave a wax warmer unattended while in use. Turn off the warmer when not in use and before leaving the area.

  9. Keep Away from Flammable Materials: Keep wax warmers and melted wax away from flammable materials such as curtains, bedding, and furniture.

  10. Discontinue Use if Allergic Reaction Occurs: If you experience any allergic reactions or discomfort while using wax melts, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.

WICKLESS CANDLES

  1. Use with Candle Warming Plates or Lamps: Wickless container candles are designed to be used with candle warming plates or lamps. Place the container on the warming plate or lamp base according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Wickless container candles can pose a choking hazard and may be harmful if ingested. Keep them out of reach of children and pets.

  3. Avoid Contact with Skin and Eyes: Avoid touching the wax with bare hands as it may cause skin irritation. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

  4. Use in Well-Ventilated Areas: Use wickless container candles in well-ventilated areas to prevent inhalation of vapors. Do not use in confined spaces without proper ventilation.

  5. Do Not Ingest: Wickless container candles are not intended for consumption. If ingested, seek medical attention immediately.

  6. Do Not Add Water: Do not add water or any other substances to the wax. Use only as directed.

  7. Discontinue Use if Allergic Reaction Occurs: If you experience any allergic reactions or discomfort while using wickless container candles, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.

  8. Avoid Overheating: Use caution when using candle warming plates or lamps to avoid overheating the wax. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for recommended operating times and temperature settings.
